A World War II Veteran and visionary entrepreneur, John A. Bartone, Sr. continues to be a leader and partner in finding solutions to the agricultural, environmental and economic needs of our planet through composting. Holding two US Patents for environmental solutions – the Solar Energy Composting Cylinder System (SECCS) being one of the Patents – it has been Mr. Bartone’s perseverance and commitment to making the world a better place that continues to drive his visions.

A Vietnam Veteran and environmental entrepreneur, Jim has been working along side of his father for nearly forty years providing outreach and education to the Erie, PA community. His knowledge of and passion for the environmental and economic benefits of organic diversion through the SECCS is second only to his father’s. Jim is committed to OPS’ mission to resolve environmental issues and provide economic opportunities for impoverished populations on a local and global scale.

Having owned and operated her own commercial photography business for over twenty years, Joanne Bartone serves as the CEO and Director of Marketing and Communications for OPS. Joanne has been closely involved with OPS since its inception and has worked directly with her father, John and her brother, James creating the organic soil amendment from the first prototype machine that was designed, built and put into operation in the 1982 pilot program. With a seventeen-year background in Social Work, Joanne has remained committed to OPS’ mission to resolve environmental issues and provide economic opportunities for impoverished populations through the SECCS.

C. Scott Dawson specializes in developing entrepreneurial cultures that assist his clients looking to incubate meaningful relationships with investors, researchers, engineers, and foundations through his own businesses, Advanz and Adreamz Institutes. He is established with Penn State Erie/ the Sam and Irene Black School of Business and the Economic Development Corporation of Erie County.
